| Comments: There are two things that I've done to let my students experience elections for themselves. The first thing I have done is to build a voting booth and allow your students to vote within the booth. The build the voting booth, I bought some cheap pvc and two top sheets. I cut the pvc pipe and placed ends on each corner to create a kind of box that a person could stand in. I then hung the two top sheets from the top of the pvs, creating a curtain. Students would enter, vote, and place their ballots in a secure box for later counting. I made the voting ballots from a sample ballot that the local election board provided. Even though the booth is nothing professionally done, students really enjoy using it. The second thing that you can do is to contact your local election board and ask them to bring their machines. The election not only let us use their electronic machines, but they also programmed in the students the school would be voting on. It was an amazing experience for students. I encourage you to contact your local election board to see what programs they may be willing to help you with. | ||
